Over 50 years ago, Lou Biffis had a dream. He imagined a destination just north of Toronto, where people could come to get away from it all without having to get that far away from it all. So he created the Nottawasaga Resort around the beautiful rolling hills of the Nottawasaga Valley, and watched his dream grow from a 40-room resort featuring a dining room, coffee shop and banquet room into the all season escape it is today.
As the Nottawasaga Resort evolved, so did Lou’s dream. Now a 269-room resort with two golf courses, a 70,000 sq. ft. health and fitness centre featuring an indoor pool and water slide, a two-pad hockey arena and a world-class soccer field, the Nottawasaga Resort is a place where families and vacation travellers come to escape.
The Nottawasaga Resort was only part of Lou’s dream. The next step was taking that unique vacation experience and turning it into a lifestyle destination that people could enjoy every day. Green Briar was born in 1985, an adult lifestyle community founded adjacent to the resort where homeowners’ could live next to exceptional golfing and an array of incredible amenities while enjoying a resort-style vacation year round. In 1997, following the success of the Green Briar community, construction began on a second adult lifestyle community, Briar Hill.
